Abacoa is a Great Place to Call Home

Young families, young professionals, university students and the young at heart flock to the Abacoa neighborhoods of Jupiter, Florida to live, work, raise their children, dine out, and enjoy life. The 19 villages in Abacoa make up a master planned mixed-use community that began construction in 1997, on land formerly owned by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Some Abacoa village names are reminiscent of old England, with Cambridge, Canterbury, and Windsor Park represented; or New England, with names like New Haven and Somerset. As the newest real estate development of Jupiter, Florida, Abacoa homes for sale or rent all feature the latest modern amenities. Frankel Realty Group has agents who specialize in Abacoa real estate for sale and for rent in Jupiter, and we look forward to showing you the charming communities of Abacoa, where the saying is, “Welcome Home.”

The Town of Jupiter and the developers of Abacoa envisioned creating a community where housing could be purchased in all price ranges to meet the needs of many types of buyers. Abacoa real estate for sale runs the gamut from apartments, condos and townhouses, to single family homes, golf course homes, upscale senior residences, and lovely luxury properties. Choose your lifestyle! And in fact, homes for sale in Abacoa range in price from the $100,000s to just over $1.5 million. As part of the community, offices, retail shopping, recreation sites, restaurants, schools and nature preserves were integrated into the plan. Now a community of some 5,000 residents, Abacoa in the heart of Jupiter, Florida offers many different housing options, all with easy access to I-95, the Florida Turnpike and Palm Beach International Airport.

Abacoa Feels Like Home, Too

Abacoa is a wonderful place to raise a family and holidays are celebrated in style here. There is something for everyone to do and the event calendar is always full. Don’t miss the farmers’ Green Market held on Saturdays, and festivals such as the annual Arti Gras, classic car shows, holiday fireworks and Movies in the Park. Many look forward to the spring to see Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals play at Abacoa’s Roger Dean Stadium. In the summer the stadium hosts the minor league Jupiter Hammerheads and the Palm Beach Cardinals. A full slate of family and town activities also takes place throughout the year in the stadium, including a Halloween parade, and huge, all-neighborhood yard sales! In the town center right nearby you’ll find restaurants, offices, shops, the Jupiter Campus of Florida Atlantic University, its Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, and FAU’s LifeLong Learning Society, an acclaimed adult education center. The Hibel Museum of Art is also located here, offering a lecture series, children’s art camp and other special exhibits throughout the year.

Three recent additions to the commercial and educational base in Abacoa include the 2012 openings of the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, the first Max Planck facility outside of Germany; and the first Scripps Florida Research Institute to be built outside of its La Jolla, California headquarters. These new institutes have made Abacoa an academic and research hub within Florida. Lastly, the internationally recognized security firm G4S (formerly Wackenhut) has also constructed and opened its first US headquarters here in Abacoa.

But any description of Abacoa would not be complete without mentioning the natural wetlands and nature preserves that meander throughout its neighborhoods. These Greenways were part of the original Abacoa development plan and will never be built upon. Here you can walk, bike, jog or nature-watch in these preserved natural eco-systems and sanctuaries without ever leaving your own community. They provide residents with attractive views and a peaceful environment, while at the same time protecting numerous wildlife and filling the important role of storm water management for the community.
